Vintage B3 Wassily lounge chair, designed by Marcel Breuer, with stitched black leather and a chromed steel tube frame, all in excellent condition.

Marcel Breuer was an apprentice at the Bauhaus in 1925 when he conceived the first tubular steel chair. Named for his contemporary, Wassily Kandinsky, the tubular frame was inspired by a bicycle.

The Gavina Group, founded by Dino Gavina in Bologna in 1949, was an Italian furniture production company established to manufacture and sell experimental works by local unknown designers. The Italian company was the first one to create and distribute this timeless piece. In 1968 Knoll bought the rights to Gavina’s holdings, including right to produce Marcel Breuer’s Wassily chair.

This original set is considered to be very valuable. Chairs possess all signature features of Gavina made B3 - Closed or capped steel tube ends, thick high quality leather and stitching.
